Chavez: Venezuela's embassy in Tripoli was robbed

Caracas (ANTARA News / AFP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Wednesday declared the Venezuelan embassy in Tripoli was attacked and completely robbed and demanded that the ambassador and staff are protected.
Chavez, a staunch ally of Libyan leader Muamar Gaddafi made the remarks at a press conference in Tripoli during the battle raged between rebel forces with the rest of the ruler.
"Ambassador of Venezuela to ensure that our embassy in Tripoli was attacked and robbed completely," Chavez said in a press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"We demand respect for the ambassador and all the officers there," he said.
Chavez is opposed to never give up on the air strikes NATO alliance against Gaddafi and expand her personal support to the Libyan leader on various occasions during the six-month uprising.
The presence of Gaddafi still a puzzle since the rebels stormed the Tripoli this week and master gugusnya in the city center.
"Let's hope this madness stopped," Chavez said, "My impression is that the disaster was Libya, where you have the right to attend and make history, a new beginning."
"They are destroying the country and not to destroy Gaddafi. The country was burned and not burned Gaddafi. It's madness occupiers," he said.
Venezuela and Libya is a member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday asked the head of the board of the Libyan rebels to ensure that diplomatic facilities in Tripoli and elsewhere are protected.
"The Secretary General stressed the need national unity, reconciliation and the open and the protection of diplomatic facilities," said a spokesman for the United Nations Farhan Haq told reporters.
"Abdel Jalil assured that the Transitional Council of State will deal with it seriously," he said. Jalil is the chairman of the State Transition Council (NTC).
Haq also said that Mr. Ban is scheduled to hold a meeting in New York on Friday to discuss the situation in Libya.
Ban on Monday said the meeting included representatives keoompok, such as, African Union, Arab League and the European Union.
Haq claimed a special envoy of the United Nations for the post-war recovery in Libya, Ian Martin, in Doha on Tuesday for talks with the NTC on plans to rebuild Libya, with the world body is expected to play a major role.
China asked the United Nations to lead the post-war efforts in Libya, the foreign ministry said, while Beijing urged smooth political transition in the North African country hit by the violence.
Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi also requested Mr. Ban to work with other agencies in the region, such as, African Union and Arab League, to restore order, said a government statement.
"The United Nations should play a major role in post-war arrangements in Libya," said Yang told Ban on Tuesday, according to the foreign ministry statement.
Persrikatan Nations should play a major role in the rebuilding of Libya after the violence continued since the rebels from their camp mngusir Muamar Gaddafi in Tripoli, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"We're moving into post-war development of Libya, which must be made specifically under the auspices of the Security Council of the United Nations," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich at a news conference. (B002/H-AK)
